Math Specialist (Focus on Grades K–4)

Start Date: August 27, 2025 Salary: 61K–150KSchedule: This role is a 10-month position. The hours for this position are 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Mondays through Fridays, and until 5:00 PM on Wednesdays for a weekly afternoon faculty meeting. This role also includes occasional event support that may happen early mornings, evenings, or weekends.

About the Position

The Bank Street School for Children is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and team-oriented Math Specialist. This role will primarily work primarily with students and teachers in grades K through 4 but may teach or have responsibilities with other grade levels as the needs of the school change. The ideal candidate will be team oriented, collaborative, and able to work with a broad range of community members.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development & Implementation

• Collaborate with the Math Coordinator and other administrators to develop and refine scope and sequence and pacing calendars for grades K – 4 (5/6s – 9/10s) based on Bridges in Mathematics curricula
• Develop and document math content across grades K-4, with a goal of vertical coherence
• Meet with administrators and faculty to receive feedback and revise the curriculum as needed
• Build strong relationships with teaching teams
• Document the implementation of curriculum in classrooms, regularly meeting with teacher teams to reflect on, adjust, and maintain the curriculum
• Participate in the presentation of curriculum and practices to parents during Math Nights

Math Instructional Practice and Content Knowledge in Classrooms 5/6s – 9/10s

• Support and planning with teachers around differentiation strategies in the classroom
• Collaborate with Lower School to implement differentiation support , including small group work
• Collaborate with administrators on coaching in classrooms that consists of a cycle of planning and instruction, (observing, modeling, and feedback)
• Partner with administrators to coordinate additional professional development for teachers, as needed
• Facilitate meetings regarding student progress, and how to utilize the information for targeted instruction

Student-Centered Academic Support

• Coordinate with Director of Student Support & Learning to implement the student intervention process for student in 6/7s – 9/10s
• Refine and manage the systems for assessing and monitoring student data and progress towards identified goals
• Co-develop plans with teachers for tier one and tier two supports in classrooms
• Provide tier-three supports to students as needed
• Communicate with parents about student progress and needs when necessary

Other Responsibilities

• Attend regular faculty, division, department, and supervisory meetings
• Support school coverage needs by substituting for teachers when needed
• Attend occasional overnight events in support student community experiences
• Fulfill other duties as assigned when needed

Qualifications:

Candidates should have:

• Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in mathematics
• A minimum of five years experience
• Strong working knowledge of mathematics
• Inquiry-based teaching experience
• Knowledge of and experience with Bridges in Mathematics curricula
